Jaipur: Following a series of complaints by the applicants seeking loan under the Indira Gandhi Urban Credit Card Scheme, Jaipur district collector Prakash Rajpurohit held a meeting with officials of public and private sector banks and asked them to accelerate the loan disbursement process in the district.
A mechanism has also been finalised to ensure a speedy implementation of the entire process. “The district collector has requested the bank officials to sanction loans to as many eligible applicants as possible. He has also directed the bank officials to clear the pending applications at the earliest,” said a district official.
The district collector had drawn a mechanism whereby the paper works can be mooted through district officials, instead of the applicants. In this regard, it has been decided that each of the banks would organise camps with the help of the two municipal corporations in the district. “There are a few complaints regarding the application process. We have found that the maximum loan amount under this scheme is only Rs 50,000, which is quite low in respect to the principal amount these banks generally sanction. Hopefully, with directions from the district collector and the new mechanism the loan disbursement process would speed up,” a district official added.
