GURUGRAM: Two friends died and two others were injured after their car rammed into a truck whose driver had slammed sudden brakes on the KMP. The friends, who were in a car, couldn’t spot the truck in time because of low visibility in the fog.
The friends, police said, were on their way to Jaipur when the accident took place in the wee hours of Tuesday. The two who died were identified as Aniket Kakkar and Shanky while the injured were Aakash Kapur and Vikram Kakkar, all residents of Ludhiana.
Aakash said from his hospital bed that the truck was speeding ahead of them and came to a sudden halt. “We never imagined it could apply the brakes. Our car crashed into it from behind. My friend, Shanky, died on the spot. We were rushed to the hospital with the help of passersby,” he added.
An FIR has been registered against the unknown truck driver at Tauru police station under sections 283 (obstruction in a public way), 279 (Rash driving) and 304 A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.
Police said they were conducting searches at various places to nab the accused on Tuesday.
