Jaipur: Officials of Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) have claimed that they are chalking out ways to sort out the ongoing issues with Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) Greater over the Dravyavati river by installing a few Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs).
On Monday, TOI reported that JDA and JMC (Greater) have locked horns as the former alleged that JMC-Greater is connecting open drains under their jurisdictions with the Dravyavati river. This is increasing pressure on the five STPs constructed during the renovation of Dravyavati river.
“As per the plan, we are going to construct two to three STPs within a year. However, this is not a permanent option. But, with these STPs, we can at least reduce the present pressure on the five existing STPs,” said a JDA official.
According to plan, JDA will soon construct a STP of 20MLD capacity at Sushilpura. Construction of two more STPs are also in the pipeline at the Kartarpura drain.
An official explained that a long drainage line from MI Road to Vaishali Nagar is creating problem at the STP located in Basi.
JMC-Greater has tapped the drainage line with the intake line of the STP located at Basi. This upcoming STP of 20 MLD will help to reduce the pressure on the Basi STP.
“This drainage line is connected through a huge area and the localities are densely populated. So, the drainage line generates a huge amount of waste. The upcoming STP at Sushilpura will help to reduce the waste to a great extent,” the official added.
Soon, JDA will float the tender for this STP.
JDA officials stated that installation of separate STPs at Kartarpura drain would also reduce the pressure on the five existing STPs to a great extent. “The Kartarpura drain generates around 60-70 MLD of Sewage . As the drain connects with Dravyavati river, this amount of sewerage is being treated at the five treatment plants after the untreated water reaches the river,” an official added.
The STP at Sushilpura will further reduce 20MLD of sewerage from Dravyavati.
