HYDERABAD: Several legal luminaries on Sunday came down to Hyderabad and heaped praise on a woman who founded an orphanage for senior citizens and the disabled. Justice MN Rao, through his foundation, gave the woman, Radhika, recognition, award and 5 lakh cash prize.
Describing this as an apt message of love, spread by Jesus Christ, on Christmas Day, Justice L Nageswara Rao, former judge of the Supreme Court who participated as a chief guest and gave away 'Adarsh Puraskar Award-2022' on behalf of Justice MN Rao and Dr Shalini Rao Pargoankar Foundation, said: "It is time for all of us to think in terms of paying back to society that gave us so much."
Stating that money has no value after a human's basic needs are met, Justice LN Rao, as he is popularly known, said that some people keep on earning more and more only to leave behind a legacy of more wealth.
Justice Rao praised Radhika, who founded Lahari Home and was serving 30 such persons with the help of her family members and neighbours.
"One need not be rich to help the needy, one should have a huge heart to go to the rescue of fellow human beings," Justice Nageswara Rao said, while pledging support to the foundation. Radhika's daughter Lahari said that her mother saw some elderly people abandoned by their children and started taking care of them with the help of good Samaritans.
Justice G Tushar Rao, judge of Delhi high court, came down to Hyderabad as a special guest and recalled how fiercely Justice MN Rao fought for upholding the cause of his poor clients as an advocate.
BRS MP Keshava Rao, former AP special chief secretary M Gopalakrishna, Professor Amir Ulla Khan from Indian School of Business, Dr Amitha Dhanda from Nalsar, Justice Challa Kodandaram, Gautam Makani, advocate general BS Prasad and others participated.
