Stock market update: Sugar stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed higher in the Monday's session.

Kothari Sugars & Chemicals(up 10.70%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)(up 9.16%), Shree Renuka Sugars(up 7.59%), Uttam Sugar Mills(up 7.43%), Ugar Sugar Works(up 6.93%), Rana Sugars(up 6.47%), K.M.Sugar Mills(up 6.15%), MAGADHSUGAR(up 6.03%), Vishwaraj Sugar Industries(up 4.83%) and Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(up 4.65%) stood among the top gainers.

Dharani Sugars & Chemicals(down 3.83%), Simbhaoli Sugars(down 3.28%) and Bannari Amman Sugars(down 0.09%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 207.8 points up at 18014.6, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 721.13 points at 60566.42.

IndusInd Bank(up 4.17%), State Bank of India(up 4.02%), Hindalco Industries(up 3.12%), Tata Steel(up 2.69%), Coal India(up 2.65%), Bajaj Finserv(up 2.53%), Axis Bank(up 2.44%), ITC(up 2.42%), UltraTech Cement(up 2.38%) and Adani Enterprises(up 2.05%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Cipla(down 2.02%), Divis Laboratories(down 1.99%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 1.43%), Nestle India(down 1.17%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(down 0.47%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 0.46%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(down 0.34%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.15%), Hindustan Unilever(down 0.14%) and Titan Company Ltd(down 0.08%) closed in the red.
