JAIPUR: State BJP president Satish Poonia has written a letter on Sunday to the National Commission for Women and the National Human Rights Commission urging them to take cognisance of the crime against women in the state.
Poonia attached clips of newspapers highlighting the cases of rape, gang-rape, kidnapping and trafficking against women. “I would like to draw your attention that during the last four years of the Congress rule more than 8.61 lakh cases of crime related to women. Out of these cases, 25,000 have been registered under rape and gang-rape sections,” reads the letter.
He said, “The commission has taken cognisance of the trafficking of girls on a stamp paper in Bhilwara. The cases of the forced trafficking of adolescent girls into the flesh trade have also been reported in Dungarpur, Bharatpur, Sawai Madhopur etc. It is unfortunate that nothing has happened other than some arrest which is just eyewash.”
