Hope for road after 30-yr wait
Hubballi: After 30 years, there is hope that Amargol to Ashraya Colony in Hubballi will finally get a road between them.
The necessary land has been handed over to the HDMC.
The residents of Ashraya Colony have to cross a stream to reach Amargol village. Residents had been demanding the road from civic authorities for several years, but it did not yield any result.
Ashraya Colony is near Navanagar, about 10 km from the centre of the city. Nearly 4,000 people live in this area that has about 900 houses. Elected representatives too presented many requests to authorities.
Mahatma Gandhi Nagar Ashraya Yojane plot association president Rajanna U to TOI that it took years to convince farmers to part with land to make the road but efforts have succeeded. Corporator Manjunath Burli said still 1 gunta of land is required for the road construction.
Soon the after completing the land acquisition, bhoomi pooja will be done for the work.
