Cops visit Kol, Howrah with Rizwan, meet kin
Kanpur: The police team led by inspector Surya Bali Pandey who got the three-day remand of Bangladeshi national Rizwan Mohammad visited Kolkata with Rizwan Mohammad. On Saturday, the team along with Rizwan reached Howrah to meet his relatives and acquaintances.
The police will also visit Rizwan’s children’s school also as cops had seized the marksheets and TCs from his Kanpur residence.
In Kolkata, Joint Commissioner of Police Anand Prakash Tiwari said that probe revealed that Rizwan travelled to Pakistan twice. Apart from this, he visited Nepal, Malaysia, Maldives and Thailand. During interrogation, Rizwan had described himself as an MBBS doctor.”
A probe revealed Rizwan’s Kolkata links stating that he stayed there for a long time. He told the police that he was originally from Kolkata. After Independence of India, during partition, his family settled in Bangladesh.
To recall, The Moolganj police had recently arrested Bangladeshi national Rizwan Mohammad, his wife Hina, father in-law Khalid, daughter Rukhsar and two minor sons.
It came to fore that the Bangladeshi family had procured Aadhaar cards on the certificates of Samajwadi Party MLA Irfan Solanki and Corporator -Mannu Rehman and was living on rent in an Imperial apartment in Aryanagar area of the city since 2016.
Police had recovered Rs 14.56 lakh in foreign currency and Indian currency, besides jewellery and other valuables from them.
