Leopard enters shed, kills 8 sheep in Karnataka's Tumakuru

TUMAKURU: Eight sheep were killed in a leopard attack at Muddanahalli of Gubbi taluk in Tumakuru in the early hours of Saturday.
According to the forest department, the sheep, belonging to a person identified as Lakshmamma, were found dead. The leopard entered the shed around 1.30am.
Range forest officer BH Duggappa and other forest department personnel visited the spot and villagers urged them to trap the leopard at the earliest. They said they were not only suffering financially - they've lost sheep, goats, hens in the past - but also feared stepping out of their homes, especially at night.
A leopard had attacked sheep 15 days ago at Adaguru village in Gubbi, which is around 5km from Muddanahalli. Foresters said they would place a cage to trap the leopard. Crackers were given to villagers where the leopard was spotted a couple of times for shooing the big cat away.
