MANDYA: Former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy continued his Pancharatna Yatra in Mandya for the fifth day touring the Melkote assembly segment on Saturday. JD(S) Youth wing chief and actor Nikhil Kumaraswamy accompanied him.
JD(S) workers prepared a garland made from paddy, corn and sugarcane and presented them to Kumaraswamy. Pandavapura MLA CS Puttaraju was present.
Speaking to reporters Kumaraswamy said, “Farmers are not living comfortably. Youth are not getting jobs. I waived farmers' loans twice when I was the chief minister. However, loan waiver cannot provide farmers with a comfortable life forever. So, I have undertaken the Pancharatna Yatra for poor people of the state.”
“It is no surprise that most of the Central ministers including PM Modi and home minister Amit Shah will visit Karnataka regularly for another three months. But they will not respond to the problems of the people. They do not come to Karnataka for development. They are coming only for political purposes,” he said.
He said that if he came to power, he would ban online games like cricket betting and rummy.
Nikhil said, “You should respond to my Lok Sabha election defeat by electing seven MLAs in the next assembly election. Puttaraju's son Shivanna will fill Puttaraju's place in the future and he will also be involved in our party organisation in a big way.”
Kumaraswamy will cover more than 50 villages in Pandavapura taluk, which is part of the segment.
