RANCHI: Jharkhand, which was free of Covid-free till December 2 has reported a fresh case on Friday after a gap of about a month.
The new patient, aged 35, is from Jamshedpur and admitted to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) in Ranchi. His condition is stable and nothing alarming, say doctors.
A Rims official said, “The infected patient is a resident of Jamshedpur. He has been referred to Rims for better treatment. The patient has had tuberculosis in the past. There was also some issues in his lungs. We got him tested for Covid-19 when he came for a routine check-up and he tested positive.”
Talking to TOI, Dr C B Sharma of the Rims medicine department, who is supervising the patient, said, “Since the patient's admission, there has been a significant improvement. The patient is about 35 years old and was been treated for TB earlier.”
He further said, “Due to the earlier history of tuberculosis and lung diseases, the patient’s health condition deteriorated slightly. However, the timely admission has helped and the check-up is on while the oxygen dependency has improved.
Dr Sharma added, “Initially, the patient was also given oxygen support. The patient is stable now.”
