Hubballi: Hubballi-Dharwad BRTS Company Limited is making all efforts to provide hassle-free service to commuters. As a part of this endeavour, HDBRTS has launched ‘Chigari Sampark’ feeder service to Sutagatti and Navanagar on a pilot project. The service is now receiving good response from the public.
The feeder service from the BRTC corridor was a long pending demand of people living in extension areas and their wish has come true.
HDBRTS managing director Bharat told TOI that a specially designed vehicle has been introduced to provide feeder service to BRTS commuters. The bus will travel from RTO BRTS stop to Sutagatti and Navanagar to pick up passengers.
Earlier, passengers coming from Navanagar and Sutagatti used to travel by other local buses to reach RTO BRTS stop to continue their journey towards Hubballi or Dharwad. This would cost them additional money and time.
“The feeder service bus will leave the RTO station every 15 minutes to pick up passengers from these two places. The passengers can take a ticket only to travel to Hubballi or Dharwad and it is also convenient. Each passenger can save Rs 2-3 by boarding the feeder bus,” he said.
“The feeder bus service is available from 6am to 10 pm. We are observing the response to the service and planning to introduce feeder services in more areas in the next three four months,” he added.
“It is not easy for us to introduce feeder bus service to all areas immediately as we must modify and specially design the BRTS buses with exit and entry points on either side of the bus, with opposite seating and huge standing space. It is like a metro coach system, besides, we also need adequate staff to maintain the feeder service buses. So, it takes some time to extend this facility to all areas,” said Bharat.
He pointed out that many passengers are happy about this service and said people from other areas are now demanding feeder bus service.
He informed that HDBRTS is committed to provide better service to commuters and is planning to introduce many more commuter-friendly facilities. “We will soon launch two more new bus stops- near garment factory and Yallakki Shettar colony between Hubbali and Dharwad,” he said.
