VARANASI: In view of the new variant of Covid, the district administration and health department have geared up to take all precautionary measures for public health. The Covid Command Center has been reactivated, and a team of doctors has been constituted for telemedicine service in the evening.
Also, the locals and tourists in the oldest city of the millenia have started following protocols.
Chief medical officer Dr Sandeep Chowdhary said that in view of increasing number of Covid patients in many countries including China, the health department has started taking precautions.
He said that Kashi Integrated Covid Command Center has been reactivated, and information related to Covid can be obtained here on the telephone number 0542-2720005. Besides, the Covid related information can also be received from Shri Shiv Prasad Gupta Divisional Hospital (7460850285), Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital (9790417847), Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital Ramnagar (9628171629) and the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (0542- 2368029.
The CMO said that apart from this, a team of doctors has also been constituted for telemedicine service from 4 pm to 8 pm. The doctors will provide necessary medical advice through telemedicine. On seeing the symptoms of Covid, the needy person can contact these doctors from 4 pm to 8 pm and seek advice from them.
Meanwhile, Sir Sunderlal Hospital of BHU has restricted the entry of people without masks. The medical superintendent, Prof. Kailash Kumar issued a notification in this regard and asked all the officials, staff, patients and their attendants to wear masks and maintain social distancing.
