PRAYAGRAJ: About 92.96 percent children in the age group of 15-17 years have taken both the doses in Sangam City. While around 99.31 percent of children (4,14,716 out of 4,17,616) in the age group of 15 - 17 years have taken their first dose of vaccination.
The district health authorities have also set a target to administer jabs to a total of 2,52,226 children in the age group of 12 and 14 years in the Prayagraj district. While 99.28 percent of them (2,50,411) had taken first dose, around 89.58% (2,25,952) have taken the second dose in the district till now.
As far as 18plus
covid vaccination figures are concerned, the district health authorities have set a target to administer vaccine to 45,15,217 recipients and 97.71 % of them (44,11,598) have taken second dose. Moreover, all target recipients of above 18 years of age had achieved cent percent target as far as administration of first dose was concerned. Interestingly, the district health authorities had set a target to administer covid vaccine to 5,74,329 elderly people and 90.46 % of them (5,19,558) had already taken second dose. Moreover, 94.13 % of them ( 5,40,614) were administered first dose.
The first covid vaccination programme was rolled out in the country on January16, 2021. In the first phase of vaccination, only those 18 years and above were allowed for jabs. In the second phase of vaccination, 15-17 years olds were included. Vaccination of children in the age group of 12-14 years was taken up from March 16 onwards. Additional CMO and District Immunization Officer, Dr Teerath Lal told TOI, “Sincere efforts of health department employees have yielded fruitful results to administer first and second dose among all target groups including children in the age group of 15- 17 and 12 -14 years in the district.
He also added that health authorities, in an attempt to ensure cent percent coverage of children of both age groups, had also coordinated with officials of education department and educational institutes so that vaccination among all target recipients could be completed smoothly and perfectly.
