Hubballi: Congress leader and former minister HK Patil alleged that the Mahadayi drinking water project had not been implemented due to BJP's lack of political will.
He alleged that due to BJP's lack of political might, people here are facing a drinking water problem. “In this matter, the BJP has betrayed the people of the state. The BJP government has completely failed to use the water we got from the tribunal. We have been allotted 13.6 tmc of water in the tribunal's decision. In order to get this water, the BJP government should have already begun the process. But it did not,” he stated.
Earlier, former CM Yeddyurappa revealed that he had written a letter to the Goa CM, saying that the work would be completed in a year. He enjoyed power as chief minister and not a single brick of Mahadayi work was laid. Although the BJP claims to have a two-engine government, it has taken them three years to prepare the DPR for the Mahadayi project. The BJP has a double-engine government. In that case, he wondered why the Mahadayi project had not yet begun.
A protest rally at Nehru Maidan Hubballi on January 2 is organised to demand the implementation of the Mahadayi Yojana. All leaders including former CM Siddaramaiah and KPCC president DK Shivakumar will participate he said.
