Amravati: Leader of opposition Ajit Pawar on Saturday warned that the people of Maharashtra would never tolerate insulting remarks being repeatedly made against great personalities of the state.
Speaking as a chief guest at Ahilyadevi Stree Shakti awards distribution function at Sant Dnyaneshwar Sanskrutik Bhavan, Pawar, without naming the governor or BJP, said that the such statements have hurt the pride of Maharashtra. “Had the mistake been made once, we would have excused it. But these mistakes are being made repeatedly, and through different people. The people of Maharashtra should introspect and tell them that such nonsense would not be tolerated anymore,” Pawar said.
The NCP MLA also expressed concern over how media and journalists are being treated in the country. Pawar also called for capital punishment for the killer of Shraddha Walkar, who was killed and cut into 35 pieces.
Playback singer Sadhana Sargam, Indian women hockey star Akshata Dhekale, journalist Sarita Kaushik, dairy and animal husbandry entrepreneur Shraddha Dhawan and administrative officer Preeti Deshmukh were felicitated by Pawar during the award function. Padmashree Dr Vikas Mahatme, MLA Yashomati Thakur, MLC Pravin Pote, NCP leader Surekhatai Thakare and Salil Deshmukh were also present.
