LUDHIANA: Marriage palaces in the city have been directed to hire traffic marshals for management of traffic congestion outside the venues and to ensure safety of vehicles parked there. Police commissioner Mandeep Singh Sidhu held a meeting with members of the Marriage Palace Association of Ludhiana in which several issues were discussed.
Marriage palaces have been asked to get a “firearm free zone” certificate from the licensing unit of the city police so that those trying to take weapons inside marriage palaces can be penalised as per the law.
The police commissioner said, “Some important issues were discussed in a meeting with the marriage palace association members.
Besides having CCTVs inside and outside marriage palaces, following noise pollution norms, having fire extinguishers, etc, marriage palace owners have been asked to hire traffic marshals to ensure safety of guests’ vehicles and to manage the flow of traffic outside marriage palaces. In view of traffic congestion complaints received by the police during a function at a marriage palace, owners have been asked to hire marshals.”
The owners have also been asked to get police verification of employees of marriage palaces, catering staff and photography staff done. Orders include complete ban on child labour in palaces, getting permit for serving liquor, permission to fly drones and appointing one person from the concerned party at main entry points to stop gate crashing.
