VARANASI: The divisional level Khadi exhibition organized by the UP Khadi Village Industry Board at the Urban Haat in the cultural complex, Chowkaghat is attracting huge crowds of visitors and buyers.
The 10-day exhibition, which will conclude on Sunday, has so far recorded a remarkable sale worth more than Rs 1.5 crore. The district gramodyog (village industry) officer, UP Singh, said that besides the local exhibits, stalls from various states, Jammu Kashmir, Bengal, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh have been set up in the exhibition offering woollen shawls, silk sarees, cotton khadi clothes, blankets, kurtas, sadris, mattress quilts, stitched carpets and khadi garments.
He said that the village industry products like jam, jelly, pickle, marmalade, incense stick, salty wooden furniture, almirah box, Ayurvedic medicine pain reliever are available in the exhibition. The main objective of the exhibition is to provide a market to the entrepreneurs of rural areas and help them in marketing and sales.
The arrangements have also been made for the entertainment of the visitors under which cultural programmes are being organised in the evening. The artists of Raas Rang Sanstha, Lucknow, staged a comedy drama ‘Sab Golmaal Hai’ on Friday.
