Surat: Umra police on Saturday registered non-cognizable offence in a case where two groups clashed near Rahul Raj Mall outside SASCMA college. Preliminary investigation revealed that no one suffered any injury in the incident in which a student complained that a group of young men had come to attack him with sticks and blunt wooden objects.
A police patrolling vehicle reached the spot following information of disturbance, but by then the situation had become normal. “A college student told the police that he had an argument with a few other students around a week ago. Seeking revenge, one of the students had called his friends from outside,” a police officer said.
The youth who had come from outside were carrying sticks, the student told the police who are examining CCTV footage recovered from neighbouring shops to verify the allegations. “The persons who came from outside are yet to be identified. Police will question those present at the spot to collect more details,” the police added.
