Mysuru: Zilla panchayat chief executive officer BR Poornima said rural areas are witnessing a lot of development work by the effective implementation of Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA).
She spoke after participating in the district-level interaction on Jala Sanjivini project with farmers organised as part of National Farmers Day at Tenakalakoppal Gurumutt Amrutha Sarovara lake premises at Bilikere hobli of Hunsur taluk. “Both Union and state governments have been providing crores of rupees under MGNREGA scheme every year aimed at not only development of villages, but also for generation of employment. Villagers can utilize the scheme for development of lakes, modernization of irrigation canals, as well as for promotion of social forestry and other works,” she said.
