BHUBANESWAR: Utkal University organised its 52nd convocation here on Friday where a student, Sweta Padma Swain, received 13 gold medals for securing the highest percentage in various subjects through her MBBS course.
She secured the highest marks in medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, surgery, forensic medicine and toxicology, pharmacology, ENT and community medicine.
Apart from Swain, five MBBS graduates of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack got a gold medal each. Rajat Kumar Mishra received five gold medals for securing the highest CGPA in different semesters of his LLB course at University Law College. As many as 163 scholars received their PhD degrees. Governor Ganeshi Lal was among the guests who gave away the medals. Kandhamal MP Achyuta Samanta, who is the founder of KIIT and KISS, received a honorary doctorate of literature from his alma mater Utkal University during the convocation in recognition of his contribution to education and social service. He received the degree from Lal.
