Karnataka Horata Samiti has urged the state government to make Uttara Kalyan Karnataka a separate state as 13 districts from the region “have totally been neglected by the government”. Addressing a press meet, Iranna Emmi, Kumar Hakari and others alleged that in the ongoing winter assembly session in Belagavi, not a single issue pertaining to north Karnataka and Kalyan Karnataka were raised or discussed. The region does not have industries, and jobs for students. “Youths are migrating in search of jobs. To highlight these issues and to demand a separate state, we will stage a dharna in KC Circle here on December 26,” they added.
PM to interact with engineers, doctorsDharwad: SDM College of Engineering and Technology (SDMCET) here has been selected as one of the two centres in south India for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s interaction with the professionals during the 96th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on December 25. In a release, SDMCET principal K Gopinath has invited doctors and engineers to assemble at the college at 11am on Sunday and interact with the PM.
Two-day ‘Soppu Mela’ in Dharwad Dharwad: ‘Sahaj Samruddhi’, an NGO, in association with other organisations including Desi, will organise a two-day ‘Soppu Mela’ (expo of leafy vegetables) here on December 24 and 25.The event will be held at Desi shop located at Yalakki Shettar Colony from 10am to 8pm. ZP CEO Dr Suresh Itnal will inaugurate the exhibition-cum-food mela on Saturday at 11:15am, while.People First Foundation CEO Prakash Bhat will preside. The food fest of leafy vegetables will be held around noon on December 25. Convenor Krishnaprasad said leafy green vegetables are an important part of a healthy diet. Leafy vegetable growers from Kundgol, Savadatti, Khanapur, Gokarna, HD Kote, and Bengaluru Rural will display the leafy vegetables and medicinal shrubs. There will also be a training session on value-addition, he said.
