Chicalim p’yat secy files assault plaint against duo

Vasco: Vasco police have registered a complaint against Pratap Mardolkar, 63, and Sanjay Mhalsekar, 46, both residents of Dabolim, for allegedly assaulting the secretary of Chicalim panchayat Amrit Sakhalkar, 40, while the latter was carrying out an inspection at Jairam Nagar, Dabolim.
Police said that the incident occurred on December 23 at around 12.30pm, when Sakhalkar had gone for an inspection over the issue of raw sewerage discharge in an open storm water drain.
“The alleged accused obstructed the complainant from carrying out the inspection and started arguing over the delay in carrying out the inspection. They then abused the complainant, assaulted him and also tore his clothes and documents,” said the police.
The accused have applied for anticipatory bail. tnn
