BJP should stop trying, nothing can stall Bharat Jodo Yatra: Cong as march enters Delhi

Nothing can prevent the Bharat Jodo Yatra from moving forward, the Congress asserted asking the BJP to "stop playing politics in the garb of the Covid pandemic" and trying to "stall" the march, which entered the national capital Saturday morning.

Congress leaders alleged the BJP has made and failed in its every attempt to defame Rahul Gandhi and derail the yatra somehow as people from across the country including Delhi are overwhelmingly extending their support.

"Covid and health are serious issues and the BJP should not make them a tool of their politics," AICC media and publicity in-charge Pawan Khera told reporters at the Ashram Chowk. "If you have the courage to stop the Yatra, do so. We will follow all rules and protocols, if any with regard to Covid."

As the Congress' Bharat Jodo Yatra entered the national capital on Saturday, party leader Jairam Ramesh took a swipe at senior BJP leaders like Union ministers Nitin Gadkari and Rajnath Singh saying "a strong Congress will benefit Gadkari ji and Rajnath Singh". While Congress workers appeared upbeat even amid the biting Delhi cold, BJP minister Anurag Thakur reminded the grand old party of the renewed Covid surge across the globe and advised: "mask up". Walking alongside Congress MP Rahul Gandhi during the foot march, party's general secretary in-charge Communications Jairam Ramesh said, "The Bharat Jodo Yatra's result will be a 'Majboot Congress' (strong Congress) and a strong Congress will be beneficial for Gadkari ji and Rajnath Singh."

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday stopped his Bharat Jodo Yatra near Apollo hospital here to give way to an ambulance.

He halted for a while to let the ambulance pass. He also asked fellow Yatris to give way to the ambulance.

This incident occurred near Apollo hospital in the national capital at around 8:30 am

Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Gandhi entered Delhi from the Badarpur border in Haryana in the morning.

The Yatra will cover a distance of 23 km in Delhi starting from Badarpur Border and will end near Red Fort.

Congress to start 'Haat se Haat Jodo' campaign to spread Rahul's message of 'Love': Digvijaya Singh

As the Bharat Jodo Yatra reached the national capital on Saturday with Rahul Gandhi leading from the front, the exuberance among the Congress workers multiplied. Congress leader Digvijaya Singh informed that the party will be starting the "Haat se Haat Jodo" campaign soon.

"All planning and preparations have been made for the Haat se Haat Jodo campaign. The door-to-door campaign will start after 30 January. We will spread the message of Rahul Gandhi and his yatra among everyone," said Singh while speaking to ANI.

On being asked whether Congress will be able to join the opposition parties together, Singh said that everyone is welcome to this Yatra. "From the first day of the Yatra, Congress has stated that those who want to join the Bharat Jodo Yatra can join it. Everybody is welcome here, " he said.

"Our blood is boiling with the massive support that the yatra has received till now from the people," said Congress leader Pawan Khera.On being asked whether Rahul Gandhi would become the Prime Minister in 2024, Khera told ANI that it will be decided in the 2024 polls. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday renewed his attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of spreading "fear and violence" in the country, and said people have witnessed 'real India' during his Bharat Jodo Yatra.

"A few days back, at a speech, I had said to people of RSS and BJP, "Apki nafrat kai bazaar mein, humein mohabbat ki dukaan kholne aye hain (I have come here to open a shop of love amid your market of hatred)," Rahul said.

'Ask anyone in this yatra if he was asked about his religion, about his caste, was he threatened, were you beaten? No.Just love and respect. You can ask our Pradesh Congress president, and he will confirm it. Yesterday he fell, I saw the moment he fell, five people came and got him back on his feet. Real India exists within this yatra," Rahul added.

Traffic affected as Bharat Jodo Yatra enters Delhi

Traffic was affected in parts of southeast Delhi Saturday morning as the Congress' Bharat Jodo Yatra, led by party leader Rahul Gandhi, entered the city.

The traffic police had issued an advisory on Friday cautioning commuters about the routes that were likely to be affected by the yatra.

The yatra will make its morning halt in the national capital at Ashram chowk at 11 am and will resume at 1 PM.

Traffic snarls are expected in parts of central Delhi later in the day when the yatra heads towards the Red Fort via the Mathura road, India Gate and ITO.

The advisory had said the yatra will reach Jai Dev Ashram near Ashram Chowk around 10.30 am and will end at the Red Fort around 4.30 pm.
