Fitness icon Milind Soman pedals for pollution-free environment in Pune
Milind Soman made a stopover in Pune during the second edition of multi-city Green Ride
PUNE: Fitness icon Milind Soman made a stopover in the city to spread the message of healthy and pollution-free environment, after embarking on the second edition of multi-city Green Ride on his Lifelong Freeride Cycle.
Soman said, "Air pollution in India is on the rise, causing a huge concern for anyone, especially those regularly exercise outdoors to lead a fit and healthy lifestyle. It's our moral duty to keep our environment healthy and pollution-free."
He said, "Improving the air quality by undertaking greener and cleaner air initiatives must be prioritised. Everyone should be a part of such initiatives. Being a responsible citizen, I feel using cleaner mode of transport is a wise decision to reduce our carbon footprints. Moreover, it will be a good motivation to fight our lazy selves. I am excited for the second edition of Green Ride and would like to urge everyone to use cleaner modes of transport like cycle not only to fight pollution but to fight our lazy selves as well."
Soman plans to ride his cycle from Mumbai to Mangaluru, covering 1,400km across 10 cities in eight days, during the second edition of multi-city Green Ride. He would pass through Pune, Karad, Kolhapur, Belgaon, Shegaon, Hirebennur, Tumkuru and Mysuru. The Green Ride is an initiative to create an awareness among people and to encourage them to keep environment healthy and pollution-free
Soman has been associated with the Lifelong campaign earlier, urging people to 'fight lazy' - a movement urging everyone to fight their lazy selves and push themselves to be their fittest versions.
