Raise retirement age of teachers of Lucknow University to 65: HC

LUCKNOW : The high court has directed the state government to extend the retirement age of teaching staff of Lucknow University from 62 to 65. The bench granted three months to the government for taking the decision.
A bench of Justice OP Shukla passed the order on plea of Prem Chandra Mishra and others. It was submitted on behalf of the petitioners that the human resource ministry had already decided that the retirement age of teaching staff of higher and technical educational institutions funded by the Centre should be extended to 65 years. tnn
Thereafter, UGC regulations 2010 also directed the concerned universities to apply the Centre’s decision. The petitioners further pleaded that UGC regulations also apply on LU. It was also stated that the HC had already passed similar orders in other matters.
