THANE/ KALYAN: Three cases were registered on Friday at various police stations against Thane NCP president Anand Paranjape and a few party activists for allegedly raising slogans and posting 'objectionable comments' on social media against CM Eknath Shinde. Also, four applications to register cases against the NCP activists were given at police stations in Kalyan-Dombivli on which Manpada police station registered a non-cognizable offence.
NCP activists led by Paranjape had protested in Thane on Thursday over suspension of NCP leader and MLA Jayant Patil from attending the winter session of the state legislature earlier in the day. A few residents had registered cases.
While one case has been registered at the Thane Nagar police station, another has been reported from Shrinagar police station and the third at Chitalsar Manpada police station. No arrests have been made.
MLA Jitendra Awhad has tweeted that the police have been pressured to slap more serious charges against Thane NCP leaders.
