Gram sabha being sidelined on rehab in Yavatmal: MLC Abhijit Wanjarri

NAGPUR: MLC Abhijit Wanjarri raised the issue of a public project in Takli-Dolhari (Yavatmal) for which there were alleged irregularities in land acquisition and rehabilitation process.
Wanjarri said, “We also came to know that some businessmen from Chhattisgarh purchased land at Rs4 lakh per hecatre and are now getting compensation of Rs65 lakh per hecatre. Also, the gram sabha has the authority to decide on rehabilitation but government is bypassing them.”
Cabinet minister Shabhuraje Desai assured to look into the issue through a special committee that will submit a report to him. “Then a high-level meeting will be held in which we shall invite MLC Wanjarri also,” said Desai.
Deputy chairperson Neelam Gorhe asked the minister what the timeline will be for this. Desai said, “Within two months the report will be ready.”
