Blue Water Area bowling: St. Clair River Lanes produces high scores

Both the women's and the men's high series this week came from St. Clair River Lanes. Terry Crampton rolled a 693 that included a 243 game in the Blue Water Men league.  Ed Martin put together a 778 series with a 277 game in the Monday Big 12 league.

Scott Badley led two leagues at Port Huron Lanes with a 767 series, along with a 277 game in Cowboys & Indians and a 753 series in Saturday Nite Bridge. Cliff Crawford paced 3-B4-1 with a 762 series and added a 712 in Saturday Nite Bridge. The other outstanding series were Mitchell Martin 743, Jim Hamilton 740, Jon Dean 736, Eric Schott 736, Dan Kamendat 735, Ed Crampton 734, Dave Cox 722, Jerry Hendrick 713 and Scott Dedoe 712.

Kristie Lashbrook was terrifically consistent in the Don McIvor Memorial league with games of 223, 214 and 217 for a 654 series. Amanda Long used a strong 245 game to post a 652 series in Saturday Nite Bridge. Long also led Inter City Ladies with a 619 series that included a 224 game. Brenda Bruehan had games of 235 and 221 on her way to a 640 series in Friday Wanna Bees. Rochelle Essenmacher shot a 637 series along with a 233 game in Sunday Strikers at Strikers Entertainment Center.

Victoria Burns owned the high game of the week with a 247 in Friday Wanna Bees and finished with a 611 series. Two others reached 600 as Joddy Swoffer had 601 in the McIvor league and Melissa Rood tossed an even-600 series in the Juanita Peter Memorial league. Other strong series were Laurynn Ball 598, Judy Hamilton 595, Sharon Pappas 593, Alyssa Crampton 588, Stephanie Freeman 579, Vicki Vandevelde 577, Marie Warner 574 and Jennifer Wilkins 571.

Judy Hamilton pitched a 244 game in the Ladies City league at St. Clair. Marie Warner had 232, also at St. Clair.  Laurynn Ball had a 230 game at Strikers. They were followed by Vicki Vandevelde 223, Kate Beck 222 and Anita Hubbard 222.

Back to the men, six bowlers had excellent 279 games including Joel Schmitt, Dan Forstner, Jon Burkhardt, Mike Monahan, Jim Hamilton, and Lee Halifax. One pin back at 278 were Colton Burns, Mitchell Martin, Brian Krauss and Zach Ganhs. The remainder of the standout games were Joe Schomburg 277, Dan Hawley Jr 277, Chris Sills 276, Dave Cox 276, Scott Dedoe 275,and Del Stevens 274.

Upcoming tournaments: Senior Doubles is Saturday, Jan. 14 at Strikers Entertainment Center. All bowlers must be 50 or older. Qualifying starts at noon and the finals immediately follow. The Joann Lapish Downs Mixed Doubles tournament will be Jan. 21-22 at St. Clair River Lanes. There are shifts on Saturday at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., then Sunday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Entry forms for tournaments are at local bowling centers or online at phba.net.
