THANE: A pani puri vendor in Thane east suffered serious injuries after he was allegedly stabbed by two minor boys following some altercation that turned violent, police said on Friday.
The incident took place on Tuesday evening when one of the minor boys aged 17 got into an argument with the pani puri vendor and attempted to damage his cart.
The vendor reprimanded the boy following which he left and returned at around 8.30pm with his 17-year-old friend who was armed with a sharp object.
“The boys who are residents of nearby Daulat Nagar accosted the vendor and following arguments, one of them fished out the knife and stabbed him brutally. Passersby noticed the commotion and saw the vendor lying in a pool of blood and immediately nabbed the boys who were trying to escape,” inspector A G Sonkar said.
The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he is recuperating while the boys have been sent to the Bhiwandi remand home, the police said.
