Nagpur: Opposition leaders, mostly from Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), continued to demand CM Eknath Shinde’s resignation over the Nagpur land scam on Day 4 of the ongoing winter session of the state legislature on Thursday.
Holding ‘shrikhand’ boxes and placards that read ‘Bhukhand cha shrikhand’ (kickbacks for land allotment), MVA leaders protested in Vidhan Bhavan.
Addressing the media, leader of opposition Ajit Pawar said the MVA has cornered the ruling party over the land scam. “Therefore, chief minister Eknath Shinde, deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and several other ministers remained absent today. Subsequently, important issues raised by us remained unaddressed,” Pawar said.
“This will severely affect people’s issues from not only Vidarbha, Marathwada but from western Maharashtra also,” he said.
The MVA leaders maintained that Shinde-Fadnavis government was unconstitutional.
NCP leader Jitendra Awhad said MVA will continue with its demand for Shinde’s resignation. “Until he resigns from CM’s post, we will continue to protest against Shinde for his alleged involvement in the scam,” Awhad said.
“It is people’s right to know what their CM had done by allotting Rs83 crore land meant for housing for the poor to 16 private persons for Rs2 crore, he said. “If the CM does not resign, we will go to the public to expose him,” he added.
