In the following days, many bands had their shows lined up at O2 Academy Brixton. To name a few of the bands, Trivium and Chase Atlantic, Heilung and an American heavy metal band Trivium, have said to be either postponed or cancelled due to the closing of the venue after fatal crowd crush. The venue owners have already cancelled the DnB Allstars New Year’s Eve party featuring artists like Shy FX and Benny Page.

After the crowd crush incident which killed two, Lambeth Council’s licensing sub-committee has imposed a temporary suspension on the permit of the South London Venue since December 22. The council has mandated the venue be shut until January 16.

On December 15, Gaby Hutchinson, 23, a security guard and Rebecca Ikumelo age 33 and a mother of two were significantly injured while trying to enter the venue with 3000 people for a performance by Asake, a Nigerian artist at The Brixton O2 Academy. Later, both Gaby and Rebecca died in hospital. According to Rolling stone, there were many people who got injured in this incident, among them, a 21-year-old too fell prey to the mishap and is still hospitalised.

The Nigerian Artist Asake has also shared his condolences on Twitter following the crowd crush incident and configuring the reason for the disaster.

Giving hope to the music industry, after hosting an indoor trial concert in Barcelona, only 6 people have tested positive for coronavirus out of 5,000 attendees. Everyone was tested before the concert, and 15 days after, only six people reported testing positive.



Lambeth Councillors shared their views in an open letter by explaining how they are looking into the matter and how sorry they are about what the people had to go through. They vowed to review and take required actions.
