Jaipur: A team of Pahari police station in Bharatpur arrested four persons, including three who posed as drug inspectors, for cheating medical shop owners.
The accused were arrested when they were roaming around in the area with a car having ‘Government of India, health department’ sticker pasted on it and threatening medical shop owners. It is alleged that they had taken Rs 5,000 each from three medical shop owners with a promise not to act against them.
According to police, the fraudsters were visiting shops and asking for money, some of the traders in order to inquire called up block chief medical and health officer. “They were surprised when they were told that no such visits by drug controller office or from the health department was proposed. That’s how shop owners came to know that the three could be imposters,” said police. Police stated that the three who posed as drug inspectors visited the medical shops and were checking their licences. “Posing as drug inspectors, they were checking papers, registration and licence of shop owners, they were checking the medical shops while posing as drug inspectors. They were finding discrepancies themselves and asking the medical shop owners to pay something. It is learnt that they had charged Rs 5,000 each from a few shops at Khoh, Sikari and Kaman areas,” the officer added.
After the complaint, a team of senior police officer reached the spot.
