Permanent scheme for seafarers soon: CMO

Permanent scheme for seafarers soon: CMO
Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant has directed the home department to prepare a permanent pension scheme for seafarers, while the existing scheme has been extended for a period of six months.
“CM has already given directions to put up for a permanent scheme which is being processed by the home department. Meanwhile, the CM had extended the period for six months,” the chief minister’s office (CMO) stated while reacting to a Twitter post by Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai
Reacting to the note of the CM on the file, Sardesai said, “His lie is in writing! @DrPramodPSawant’s note on the #SeafarersPensionScheme exposes his duplicity and deceit in promising to make the scheme permanent. By procuring an opposition MLA to sing his praises, all along, together, they’ve been cheating our tarvotis & their families!”
More than 3,000 seafarers and widows had been receiving the aid until the scheme was stopped in October 2019.
