AAP protest on issue of property IDs, NDCs, says 85% IDs issued in Ambala have ambiguities
The protestors sat outside the MC office and raised slogans against the government alleging corruption.
AMBALA: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held a protest outside the office of Municipal Council (MC), Ambala Cantonment on Friday, alleging corruption due to issuance of erroneous property identities (IDs) and no-due certificates (NDCs).
The protest was led by AAP Haryana leader Chitra Sarwara. The protestors sat outside the MC office and raised slogans against the government alleging corruption.
The protestors said a private firm in Haryana has been paid Rs 42 lakh for about nearly 42 lakh property IDs, despite that a large number of these IDs are erroneous, which has affected the public work like issuance of NDC, NOC, registry, property sale purchase, etc. They said to get their work done the public is being looted under large scale corruption, but the government is silent.
AAP workers handed over a memorandum of demand in the name of Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar to officials of district administration in Ambala.
It has been alleged, "A private firm tasked to make property IDs in Haryana was given a work order worth Rs 18 crore as per work cost but the firm has been paid nearly Rs 42 crore. But a large number of erroneous property IDs have been issued by the firm. About 85% property IDs issued in Ambala are erroneous."
Chitra said errors like wrong names of property owners and their family members, area, colony, etc., have been wrongly registered in IDs.
"Public has to bear the cost between Rs 200 to Rs 500 for getting the errors corrected in their property IDs, which takes about two to three months. The government should give stipulated time to the firm to correct mistakes and people should not be charged extra money", said Chitra.
She demanded that if the company fails to redress these deficiencies or complaints within the stipulated time period, then a penalty should be imposed on the company. If the complaints are not redressed within the time limit, then the tender of the said company should be canceled or black-listing of that company and work at its risk. And the cost process should be given to the next company so that the subsequent loss and payment will be of the contractor and not of the public.
Chitra demanded from the Haryana government that the said work should be done soon in the public interest.
