KANPUR: At a time when Corona variant BF.7 is creating havoc in China, a professor of
IIT Kanpur feels there is nothing for the Indian people to worry about except that they should remain vigilant against
Covid and follow the laid down procedures.
Prof Manindra Agrawal of IIT Kanpur on Thursday said, "The people in India need not to worry about the new Covid variant BF.7 since strong natural immunity against Covid already exists". He, however, stressed on the fact that people should follow the Covid guidelines and remain alert. Covid variant BF.7 is circulating in China, he added.
In a video byte, Prof Agarwal, who earlier had made predictions regarding Covid based on his mathematical calculations said, "People in India already have high-level of natural immunity against Covid. This immunity has been existing in people for the past several months now."
More than 98 percent of people in the country have strong immunity, he said. The first case of Corona variant BF.7, he said, was reported in July this year and since then it has not made any significant impact in the country. "I do not feel there is anything to worry about as far as India is concerned", he added.
He has appealed to the people to stay alert and take necessary precautions.
