PATNA: Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has come to the aid of a seven-year-old schoolboy from Sitamarhi district who continued hopping his way to the local government primary school due to disability, displaying rare fighting spirit and his dedication for study. The boy, Prashant Kumar from economically poor background, is enrolled in Class II at the local primary school.
Prashant had lost one of his legs due to wrong medication by a quack who could not identify his ailment and administered a wrong injection. "Due to a wrong injection, his leg began rotting after which we admitted him to the hospital in the neighbourhood, but his condition didn't improve. Ultimately his leg had to be amputated to save his life," his mother Foolan Devi told reporters.
But his one leg didn't prove to be a handicap for the boy as very soon he mustered courage and started attending the primary school located at about 1km away from his home at Malha Tola in Sitamarhi's Parihar block.
Carrying a school bag on his back, the barefooted boy started hopping his way to the school covering an uneven path for study.
As the video of him going to school by jumping on foot went viral on social media, Sood came forward and offered help to the boy. "Prashant will now go to school by jumping on not one but on both his feet. Time has come for him to walk on both feet...Sending a ticket to him," Sood tweeted on Wednesday. The news has left his family ecstatic.
A schoolteacher described the boy as very hardworking. "He comes to school by hopping on one foot, but what is special about him is that he attends his school everyday. He has a strong passion for study and his family too wants him to study," schoolteacher Priyanka Kumari said.
