BENGALURU: Vidyaranyapura police arrested a 32-year-old habitual offender for allegedly stealing vehicles from the city, and seized three cars and two two-wheelers from him.
The accused is M Saddam Hussain alias Tabrez alias Saddam, a resident of Chitradurga district. Police said the suspect came to Bengaluru and stole a car from Doddabettahalli near Vidyaranyapura last month. Police registered a case based on a complaint filed by the victim, Kanchi Reddigari Janardhan. The complainant told police that he had parked his car outside his residence on November 17 and left the city on some work. When he returned on November 23, the vehicle was missing.
Police collected CCTV footage from nearby areas and zeroed in on Tabrez. Earlier, he had allegedly stolen two-wheelers and cars from Hosadurga, Hiriyur, Doddapet, Chikkanayakanahalli, Tumakuru, Chikkamagaluru, Tarikere, Madanayakanahalli and Vishwanathapura police station limits. He had also stolen vehicles from Vidyaranyapura, Bagalagunte and Annapoorneshwarinagar in Bengaluru. Police claimed that with his arrest, they have solved five cases registered in the city.
