Stopped from peeing near temple, youth kills woman
Kanpur: In a brutally shocking incident, a 70-year-old elderly woman was beaten to death allegedly for stopping a local goon from peeing near a temple in Chaubeypur area in Ghaghpur village of the district on Thursday morning.
He also killed a goat and vandalised idols in the temple. Tension gripped the village after the incident. Heavy police force has been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident.
The accused has been taken into police custody and a probe has begun. Police have seized the stick with which the accused killed the elderly. The deceased woman’s body and carcass of the goat have been sent for postmortem.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, (West) Vijay Dhul along with police teams inspected the spot. Forensic team also reached the crime scene to collect evidence.
According to police, a village woman Surjana Devi wife of Ram Sajeevan Yadav was sitting outside the house in the sun. At around 8.00 in the morning, one Vijay Kureel started peeing near the temple situated in the vicinity. When Surjana objected and reprimanded Vijay asking him not to urinate near the temple, he abused her, caught hold of her and dragged her to a room, attacked the woman repeatedly with a stick. It was when the woman collapsed, knocked out of her senses, sustained serious injures and died, he later attacked her goat, also killing it at the spot. Not only this, Vijay also vandalised several idols in the temple.
The accused while trying to escape was caught and handed over to the police by locals of the area. He is being interrogated after being taken into custody.
A heavy police force has been deployed in the village. We are interrogating the accused and verifying if there was any old enmity,” said SP West and added, “The wooden stick which the accused used to kill the elderly woman and her goat has been recovered from his possession.”
