NEW DELHI: A 5-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and sexually assaulted in north Delhi’s Bhalswa Dairy area on Wednesday night. The accused is absconding, police said.
The family members of the girl blocked the road and protested on Thursday evening for strict action against the accused.
According to police, the girl was playing outside her home on Wednesday evening when she went missing.
The girl’s parents lodged a missing complaint, following which a case under Section 363 (abduction) of IPC was registered at the local police station. Police conducted a search and made announcements in the area as per protocol, they claimed.
Around 7 am on Thursday, the girl was found lying near a park. She was bleeding from her private parts. The girl was subsequently taken to a hospital, where doctors opined that she was sexually assaulted.
Cops then added other sections of the IPC pertaining to rape apart from the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act to the abduction FIR. “We have pressed 10 teams of special staff and police station to look into different angles and trace out the accused. With the leads we have, we are hopeful to nab the accused in the next 24 hours,” a senior police officer said on Thursday evening.
