
Pune News Highlights, December 24, 2022: BJP MLA from Maharashtra, Jaykumar Gore, met with an accident early on Saturday morning after his car went off a bridge and fell into a ditch on the Pune-Pandharpur highway near Malthan. Gore, the MLA from Man Assembly constituency, was shifted to Pune’s Ruby Hall Clinic early Saturday morning, and is said to have suffered minor fractures in the chest. MLA Jaykumar Gore’s personal assistant and the driver are said to have received serious injuries and are being treated at a private hospital in Baramati.
The Pune-headquartered Southern Command conducted a blood donation drive across 33 cities from the 11 states in the area of responsibility of the Southern Command on December 24. The drive by the Indian Army is being undertaken in coordination with prominent civil hospitals and social organisations to ensure that the donated blood units reach the needy patients in time, according to a press statement from the Southern Command. The multi-city drive — with a tagline ‘Donate Blood-Save Lives’ — is part of the various other events being conducted by the Southern Command in the run-up to the 75th Army Day.
In other news, Maharashtra has stepped up whole genome sequencing with the state health department instructing districts to send samples that have tested positive for Covid-19 to seven laboratories in the wake of Covid surge in China and other countries. Apart from Pune’s B J Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital, which has the facility for genome sequencing, national laboratories like National Institute of Virology, National AIDS Research Institute and others will be undertaking the effort.

A fraudster claiming to be the director of a reputed jewellery firm in Pune contacted State Bank of India officials and made them transfer Rs 19 lakh to two bank accounts for a “medical emergency”, police said.
Police said that Ashish Javkhedkar and another officer of the SBI main branch near the district collectorate received a phone call on December 20, claiming to be from Kishorkumar Shah, director of Chandukaka Saraf & Sons Private Limited Company. The caller told the bank officials that he needed money urgently owing to some medical emergency. As per his instructions, the bank officials then transferred Rs 19 lakh into two accounts through the RTGS fund transfer system. Read more

After learning that hazardous waste is being thrown indiscriminately on the roads, nullahs and open spaces, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) directed the industrial units in the Pimpri-Chinchwad-Bhosari MIDC areas to segregate their hazardous and non-hazardous waste so that appropriate disposal can be carried out from January 1.
The PCMC has also made it clear to the industrial units that the mixing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste by some industrial units was leading to fire incidents at its Moshi garbage dump. Read more
Madha MP Ranjit Raje Nimbalkar, who stays in Phaltan, was among the first respondents after BJP MLA from Maharashtra Jaykumar Gore’s car went off a bridge and fell into a ditch on the Pune-Pandharpur highway in the wee hours of Saturday.
Nimbalkar accompanied Gore to Pune’s Ruby Hall Hospital. “There’s no reason to worry. There has been a minor injury to three of his ribs. He will be back in Maan (Gore’s Assembly constituency) after treatment in a few days,” said Nimbalkar. Read more
Investigation by the Pimpri Chinchwad police revealed that the businessman who had gone missing since December 15 was murdered by his sons.
While his sons were arrested Friday, the police found out that the duo killed their father for his extramarital affair and burnt his body in their factory’s kiln and later lodged a missing complaint.
Dhananjay was in the business of food products like farsan, a fried snack. Police Inspector Kishor Patil, the investigating officer of the case, said the deceased’s family members had lodged a report on December 19 that Dhananjay had gone missing since December 15. Read more

In 36 days, the Pune-based ‘young seniors’, most of whom in their sixties, covered a distance of 3,930 km to reach the Indo-Tibetan Border on December 14.
Katti was accompanied by Pradip Bhavalkar, 67, Devdatta Tembhekar, 62, and Monish Chakraborty, 51, in the arduous ‘W2E’ (West to East) cycle expedition that passed through eight states – Gujarat, Rajasthan, MP, UP, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh. Read more
Five persons travelling in a car received serious injuries after the car rammed into a truck from behind after the latter applied the break suddenly. The accident happened near Loni Kalbhor on Pune-Solapur highway. Both the vehicles were heading in Solapur direction.
The injured includes two men, two women and a child. Their identities are not yet known.
"The accident happened at about 10 am. The car rammed into the truck and was stuck under. It was damaged badly. Locals and personnel from PMRDA fire brigade helped remove the injured and send them to a hospital," said an official with Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority.

Madha MP Ranjit Raje Nimbalkar, who stays in Phaltan,was among the first respondents after the accident to MLA Jaykumar Gore's car and said that Gore had called immediately after the accident.
"At about 3.05 am, I received a call from Gore saheb. He told me that his car has suffered an accident. He won't be able to tell the location exactly, but it's near Phaltan. I reached at the location within 5-6 minutes. I saw that the car had fallen into a 70-80 feet ditch. The car was overturned to the side where Gore saheb sits. The seats were broken and his driver and PA were stuck in an injured position," said Nimbalkar.
Nimbalkar accompanied Gore to Pune's Ruby Hall Hospital. "There's no reason to worry. Threre's minor injury to three of his ribs. He will be back in Maan after treatment in a few days," said Nimbalkar.
"He (Gore) was admitted to hospital at 7.45 am. Fortunately he has received no major injuries. His blood pressure and heartbeats are normal. He has received blunt trauma to the left side of his chest. He is out of danger," Dr Kapil Zirpe, head of Neuro Critical Care at Ruby Hospital Pune.
BJP MLA from Man in Satara district Jay Kumar Gore seriously injured after his vehicle fell off a bridge in Phaltan early morning today. He has been admitted to Pune's Ruby Hospital. The incident took place in the Satara district near Malthan. According to information so far, the police said that the car carrying the MLA had skidded off the road and turned turtle, as reported by PTI.
Funeral of sitting BJP legislator and former mayor Mukta Tilak was done at Vaikunth crematorium today afternoon. Her body was kept for public to pay homage at Kesariwada in the morning. Then her funeral procession to Vaikunth was carried and last rites performed in the afternoon.
“It’s a sad day for all of us. Tilak successfully carried forward the legacy of Lokmanya Tilak. She was a loyal worker of the BJP for 30 years. She showed her commitment to the party by travelling all the way to Mumbai for Rajya Sabha and MLC elections despite being in critical condition in ICU. This was despite me telling her that her life was more important than winning elections,” Fadnavis said.
He was accompanied by minister Girish Mahajan and Chandrakant Patil, the guardian minister for Pune.
'She was suffering from a severe illness for some some time. But all of us saw that despite the illness, she travelled to Mumbai to vote in Rajya Sabha and Vidhan Parishad elections. She was dedicated to her party. She fiercely faught the illness but one can't do much when something is destined,' Pawar said outside the Vidhan Bhavan where the state assembly session is ongoing.
