Two snatch laptop from woman at Trichy bus stand

TRICHY: Two unidentified people snatched a laptop from a 45-year-old woman passenger at the central bus stand in Trichy on Monday. Police said Rajakumari, of Nagappattinam, was standing near a Chennai bus bay in the central bus stand around 9pm on Monday. “She was carrying a laptop with her. Suddenly, two people snatched her laptop and escaped from the spot,” said a police officer.
The Cantonment police booked a case on Tuesday and launched an investigation. They have checked CCTV footage collected from in and around the bus stand.
Meanwhile, video of an inspector sensitising passengers in a city bus about keeping their bags and valuables safe during the travel went viral on the social media platforms on Wednesday.
S Karunakaran, inspector (in charge) of the Palakkarai police station, and his team were engaged in vehicle check on Sunday evening.
In video, he asked passengers to be careful about their belongings during their travel. “Even if culprits were arrested in theft cases, stolen items might not be recovered every time.”
