10 villages cut off due to heavy landslide in Nilgiris district in TN
Ten villages around Kukkalthorai near here in Nilgiris district were cut off from main stream on Thursday, following heavy landslide on Kothagiri road, officials said. The roads connecting the 10 villages with towns were completely buried in the debris, totally paralysing the vehicular movement in the villages, coming under Udhagamandalam Panchayat, they said.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath reviews Covid situation, asks officials to ramp up testing, genome sequencing
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath Thursday reviewed the Covid-19 situation in the state at a high-level meeting with officials, and directed them to monitor the new coronavirus variant, ramp up testing and conduct genome sequencing of fresh cases. He also asked them to make people aware about wearing masks in crowded public places such as hospitals, buses, railway stations and markets.

Shraddha Walkar murder case: Delhi court posts accused Aaftab Amin Poonawala's bail hearing at 11am (PTI)
A Delhi court on Thursday posted the bail hearing of Shraddha Walkar murder case accused Aaftab Amin Poonawala at 11 am. Poonawala, accused of strangling his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar and chopping her body into pieces, is likely to appear before Additional Sessions Judge Vrinda Kumari through video-conferencing.In the last hearing on December 17, Poonawala's advocate sought time to seek instructions from his client.Poonawala had informed the court through an email that though he signed on the vakalatnama, he was not aware that his advocate was going to file a bail plea on his behalf.
