Dr Sulbha Jindal and her daughter are both sportspersons
LUDHIANA: There are many firsts in the Sutlej Club polls this year; the biggest one remains the nomination of a female candidate for the race of sports secretary.
Dr Sulbha Jindal, a 39-year-old national-level swimmer, is contesting for the post of sports secretary against Nitin Gupta.
Besides bringing laurels at various state and national level swimming competitions, Sulbha is a qualified veterinary doctor. She has also been participating in gym competitions in the club for quite some time, now.
Her 9-year-old daughter, Aadhira — an expert swimmer and state-level badminton player — is as multi-talented as her mother, to say the least.
Several prominent personalities of the city are canvassing for Sulbha and her nomination was also proposed by industrialists Kamal Oswal and Onkar Singh Pahwa.
Speaking to TOI, Sulbha said, “Being a frequent user of sporting and recreational facilities at Sutlej Club, I am well aware of the sports-related problems. If elected as the sports secretary, I will revamp the existing infrastructure as per international standards and ensure that new facilities are provided in the club. It will be my top-most priority to take regular feedback from the members, and I will also set up a complaint redressal system.”
