Berhampur: Police have intensified anti-Maoist operations in Kandhamal district following the murder of a contractor at Bandapipili village under Kotagarh police station limits by suspected Maoists last week. “We have stepped up anti-Maoist operations in sensitive areas, including Bandapipili. The security forces have also been asked to maintain strict vigil,” Kandhamal SP Vinit Agrawal said on Tuesday.
On Sunday, 42-year-old Ramesh Nayak was gunned down after the rebels branded him as a police informer. The rebels also left a poster where they warned five others in the area from helping the police. tnn
