Variety has confirmed that Sonya Eddy, 55 has passed away. She was best known for playing Epiphany Johnson in General Hospital at the ABC serial opera.

Frank Valentini expressed that he is devastated by the passing of Sonya Eddy. There will not be that charm on the set anymore. She took away her feature of vitality and glow. The entire cast offers her family, friends, and supporters their sincere condolences on behalf of the whole GH cast and crew.

Eddy became a part of the long-running medical drama in 2006 as the frank, no-nonsense nurse, and played the role for 543 episodes, appearing as recently as this past October. In real life, Eddy was also a licensed vocational nurse. The character worked as the chief nurse and was the mother to Stan Johnson (played by Kiko Ellsworth) who was killed off from the show in 2007 following a mob hit.

Tyler Ford, her co-producer at Eddy Ford Entertainment, stated that she left an everlasting impact on every individual she met, through the camera and off it.

In Concord, California, she was born on June 17, 1967. Zora is My Name was the first show by Sonya Eddy that came in 1990. After that, she got her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1992.

Eddy also played Epiphany Johnson in the General Hospital: Night Shift primetime spinoff series in addition to her long-running portrayal as the character on the ABC soap opera General Hospital.

An acquaintance of Eddy (Actress Octavia Spencer) posted on Instagram that the world lost another wonderful person.
