Jaipur: The Government Railway Police (GRP) filed a case after a 24-year-old German woman alleged that a travelling ticket examiner (TTE) allegedly molested her on a train on December 13. SHO (GRP Jaipur) Sampat Raj said that a case was filed under IPC Section 354 (Assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty). As per the police, the woman was travelling from Ajmer to Jaipur on December 13 when a TTE offered to shift her seat from the general coach to a cabin one.
As per Raj, the accused allegedly touched her inappropriately. “She filed a complaint against the TTE on Rail Madad, an online grievance portal. The railway department sent us a letter about the case following which an FIR was filed in the case. The accused is unidentified,” he said, adding that the police will find out the details of the accused through the railway’s records.
The official also said that they were in contact with the woman. “We spoke to her to record her statements in the case, but she was not feeling well so we could not proceed ahead in the case,” Raj said, adding that the police are investigating the case to identify the accused. tnn
