VB remand of Ashu’s PA extended
Ludhiana: A local court extended the VB remand of Pankaj Meenu Malhotra, personal assistant to former cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu for a day on Tuesday. On December 16, Malhotra surrendered before the Vigilance Bureau in the alleged foodgrain transportation tender scam.
The VB said that Malhotra had received Rs 6 lakh bribe from contractor Telu Ram to arrange his meeting with former minister for allotment of tenders for labour and transportation works for the year 2020-21 in grain markets. VB sought remand of the accused to recover evidence related to the same. Following which the court extended the remand for one day. On August 16, the Vigilance Bureau registered a case against contractor Telu Ram, Jagroop Singh, Sandeep Bhatia and partners of Gurdas Ram & company as well as officials of Punjab food and civil supply department besides respective officials, employees of procurement agencies. tnn
