Son-rise in B'town: ‘Kuttey’ director Aasmaan Bhardwaj is also a budding musician, amateur golfer

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Aasmaan, the son of noted filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj (who gave us cinematic gems like ‘Kaminey’, ‘Maqbool’, ‘Omkara’, ‘Haider’ etc) is all set to tread in the footsteps of his father and don the director’s hat. He will make his directorial debut with the gritty, star-studded black comedy ‘Kuttey’. The movie has a stellar cast comprising Arjun Kapoor, Tabu, Naseeruddin Shah, Konkona Sen Sharma, Radhika Madan, and Kumud Mishra. The film is produced jointly by Vishal Bhardwaj (who is also composing the music) Luv Ranjan and T-Series.

The trailer of the movie dropped on December 20, and it garnered mostly positive reactions. Fans found the trailer to be engaging, full of unpredictable twists and dark humour. The badass dialogues from the trailer have also gone viral on social media. Many people found a resemblance between the trailer and the Vishal Bhardwaj classic like ‘Kaminey’ and the Abhiney Deo directorial ‘Delhi Belly’ starring Imran Khan.

The films hit the theatres on January 13, 2023. There is obviously much anticipation for the directorial skills of Bhardwaj Jr, given that his father is considered one of the modern-day auteurs in Bollywood. Bhardwaj is pretty lowkey on social media. Here’s what we know about him so far...

• He has previously assisted his father with movies such as ‘7 Khoon Maaf’, ‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’ and ‘Pataakha’.

• Although he is primarily interested in filmmaking, Bhardwaj also has a knack for music. He describes himself as a filmmaker, writer, musician, and amateur golfer in his Instagram bio.

• He is also the Managing Director of Vishal Bhardwaj Films and Vishal Bhardwaj Music.
