Depressed BHMS student ends life

Surat: A fourth-semester student of Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) allegedly committed suicide at her house in the Jahangirpura area.
The student, Jahnvi Patel (20), used a dupatta to hang herself from the ceiling fan at her house in Patel Nagar on Monday. A preliminary investigation suggested that she was depressed after failing the allowed-to-keep term (ATKT) exam recently.
She was wearing a T-Shirt with the writing ‘Game Over’ when found dead. Her family members took her to a hospital immediately but doctors there declared her dead before admission.
Jahnvi had complained of depression to her family in the recent past after her poor results. She was studying in a college at Kim in the Surat district. Her father is a deputy engineer at Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) while her brother, who is a doctor, also works with SMC. Her mother is a schoolteacher.
